The short answer
Properly stored, chocolate-covered pretzels stay fresh for about two to three weeks. Because the chocolate seals in the pretzel's crispness, they hold up better than many baked goods — no refrigeration needed.
The clock starts the day we dip them, which is one reason we make every order to order. Your treats aren't sitting on a shelf before they reach you.
What makes them go stale?
Two things: moisture and heat. Humidity softens the pretzel and can make chocolate develop a cloudy white film (called bloom). Heat melts the chocolate and ruins the crunch.
- Store in an airtight container
- Keep in a cool, dry place — not above the stove or in direct sunlight
- Avoid the refrigerator (condensation causes bloom)
- Separate layers with parchment so they don't stick
Can you freeze them?
You can, but we generally don't recommend it — freezing and thawing introduces condensation that dulls the chocolate. For short-term storage, room temperature is best.
Fresh is best: order close to your event date and enjoy within the first week for the crispiest bite.
